Northside administrators, teachers and students with the Palmetto Silver banner

Northside Middle School has been recognized with a Palmetto Silver Award from the SC Department of Education for academic achievement and student progress on State Report Cards.

“Earning Palmetto Silver means a great deal to our school because it reflects the heart and hard work of our teachers and students every single day,” Principal Dr. Tiffany Hall said. “Our staff has been incredibly committed to supporting every child, not just academically, but also in behavior and attendance. Seeing this work come to life is something we’re truly proud of.“

“This recognition shows what we believe at our core: every student can succeed when nurtured and given the right support,” Dr. Hall added. “Through AVID and Leader in Me, we’ve built a shared language and strong expectations that help our students grow, and with additional supports like our Stronger Connections Grant, we’ve been able to open doors for opportunities our students might not have otherwise had.”

The Palmetto Silver and Gold awards program was established by the South Carolina General Assembly as part of the Education Accountability Act (EAA) of 1998. The program recognizes and rewards schools for attaining high levels of absolute performance, high rates of growth, and for making substantial progress in closing the achievement gap between groups of students, according to the Department of Education.

Lexington Two Interim Superintendent praised the achievement.

“We are grateful for the dedication of our school leaders, teachers, staff, students, and families who make this kind of achievement possible,” Dr. Cooper said. “This recognition affirms that Lexington Two is moving forward in meaningful ways, and that is truly something to celebrate.”
