Re: Temporary Move to Remote Learning
Students at Northside Middle School will move temporarily from in-person classes to remote learning for two weeks, beginning Monday, August 30. The decision is a result of the impact of COVID-19 on students, staff and safe school operations. This decision is not tied to the number of students and staff who are positive, but the number of students and staff who are also quarantined as the district continues to adhere to quarantine procedures.
The remote learning period will run Monday, August 30, through Thursday, September 9; Monday, September 6, is a student holiday. Students are tentatively scheduled to resume in-person classes on campus on Friday, September 10.
Your child’s teacher will send you information about instructional expectations during remote learning. Should you need technical assistance, please click here for Help Desk information.
There will be no athletics, clubs, activities and/or events during the two-week remote learning period. These activities will resume when students return to campus for in-person classes.
Free student meals will be available for drive-thru pickup in the traffic loop in front of Riverbank Elementary from 11am-12pm on Monday, August 30; Thursday, September 2; and Tuesday, September 7. Several days of breakfast/lunch meals for the weekdays will be distributed over each of these three days. Advance ordering is suggested to ensure there is enough for everyone. Lexington Two does not make decisions about shifts in instruction lightly, knowing how they affect students and their families as well as staff and others. Our goal remains five (5) day in-person instruction -- as we started the school year -- in the safest environment possible amid COVID-19. We look forward to welcoming our Northside students back to campus and will communicate updates with you during this remote learning period.
Sincerely,
Dr. Nicolas Wade, Superintendent of Schools
Anna Unversaw, Principal of Northside Middle School
