Northside awarded $111,000 Stronger Connections grant

WEST COLUMBIA, SC – Northside Middle School is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded the Stronger Connections grant, totaling $111,000, to support the implementation of key initiatives aimed at boosting student success. This significant grant will enable the school to expand its efforts in leadership development, character education, and academic improvement.

With these funds, Northside Middle School will introduce several evidence-based programs designed to foster a positive and inclusive school culture:

  1. Leader in Me (LiM): We will use the lessons to develop a common language around behavior expectations and empower students to develop essential leadership skills.
  2. CharacterStrong Curriculum: We will use the curriculum dedicated to promoting character education and positive behavior through helping to connect students and increase their sense of belonging.
  3. YouScience Curriculum:  We will use the career development curriculum to help students explore their strengths and align them with future career opportunities.

This grant will also allow the school to deepen its engagement with families and the community, creating a supportive network for students both inside and outside the classroom. Additionally, the funds will be used for professional development to ensure that educators are well-prepared to implement these programs effectively.

"We are incredibly excited to be awarded the Stronger Connections grant," said Dr. Tiffany Hall, principal of Northside Middle School. "This funding will have a transformative impact on our students, allowing us to provide them with the tools and support they need to succeed academically and personally.

“We are committed to creating an environment where every student can thrive,” Dr. Hall added, “and this grant is a vital step toward achieving that goal."
